minka

a short film about architecture, place, friendship, life and memory. Davina Pardo's 'Minka' which translates to 'house of the people' follows the finding, deconstruction and re-assembling of this breathtaking traditional japanese farmhouse and the people who inhabited it for many years. if you watch one video today make sure it's this one.

stephen & claire

i've been sitting on this lovely little selection of photogrpahs for a while now as i just haven't had the time to get them ready for the blog.  however over the past few evenings whilst taking a break from the world of architecture i've managed to cobble together a small edit. it was a magical day spent photographing two of my nearest and dearest.

stephen and claire got married on the 14th october 2011 in st peter's free church, dundee.  it was a wedding which was full of laughter, close friends, vintage detailing and a mile of hand-made bunting.

bank house

i had the wonderful pleasure of photographing bank house by mcgarry-moon architects yesterday.

it was a fantastic day which involved a short boat trip out to the island where the house is sited.  we were very fortunate with the weather and got a few short spells of striking sunshine mixed with the typically moody irish cloud cover.

below are a few snaps from the days events.  all photographs taken with the x100.

fifth year has officially started...

Posted on by Adam Currie

i'm the first to admit that the start to my final year of studies has started tediously slow.  being your own compass for the year is a scary thought and alot more difficult than first anticipated.

however finding yourself sitting in the studio at 8:45pm on a friday evening could be a sign that 'fifth year has officially started'.

sitting in the still of the material studio with the sun setting as your backdrop and the soft glow of an adopted desk lamp is far cry from the glaring artifcally swamped main studio space within the school.

my companions throughout the evening where condemned building by douglas darden and drive original motion soundtrack by cliff martinez.

with that i shall leave you with two images of the shadows of dundee school of architecture.
